I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Registered Nutritionist, based in Welwyn Garden City, in Hertfordshire. I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and am a member of BANT, the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine.
In my twenties, I worked as an Information Technology (IT) Technical Support Specialist and completed an honours degree in IT with The Open University. The skills that I learned through this work include engaging with clients, providing training and problem solving - getting to the root cause of an issue.
I then became interested in nutrition following the birth of my children and began to study with The Open University again, to enhance my nutrition knowledge. Armed with this, in 2010 I started work at a health clinic.
To deepen my knowledge of how nutritional imbalances and lifestyle may be contributing to health issues, I studied with The Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) - a leading Nutritional Therapy education provider. Through ION, I learned the importance of an evidence-based approach. I have used this knowledge through Welwyn Nutritional Therapy and at the health clinic to support numerous clients with their own unique issues, by providing recommendations that are relevant to each person.
As a result of my learning, I have changed my diet and have different thoughts about foods. I have learned about the nutrition within food and how foods might affect you as well as how lifestyle choices might also have an impact.
I feel that my engaging with clients, providing training and problem solving skills are important for Nutritional Therapy, because I continue to consider root causes of issues. I am always asking “Why?”.
